Creating better relationships and improving productivity

We’ve been amazed at the adoption of the recommendation engine, a new tool that helps advertisers and publishers find new relationships and links based on relevance and revenue potential. Google Affiliate Network now sees over half of all new relationships being created from our recommendations. Today, we’re excited to share new enhancements that further simplify the process of creating relationships and getting links.

For publishers:

Creating relationships

The Advertisers tab includes three sub-tabs to help you easily sort through new opportunities.

  • Recommended is now the default view for the Advertisers tab, featuring a customizable list of available advertiser programs that Google algorithms predict may be a good fit for you.

  • Invitations are from advertisers that want to work with you -- including those with private programs. To join, just click the ‘Join’ button for that invitation.

  • Browse existing shows the status of advertiser programs you’ve already applied to.

Getting the best links

The Links tab features recommendations for links that we estimate will perform well for you, and we now include new criteria for recommendations, like Staff picks and Exclusive opportunities. You can still view ‘Browse all links’ to search for links as normal. You'll also notice three new sub-tabs – we've consolidated Products and Subscriptions under the Links tab.

  • Recommended links are ranked primarily based on average earnings.

  • Staff picks are curated by Google Affiliate Network account teams based on relevant performance or seasonality.

  • Exclusive opportunities feature links only available through Google Affiliate Network.

For advertisers:

Creating relationships

The Publishers tab includes three sub-tabs to help you easily sort through high-potential publishers that may be a good fit for your program.

  • Recommended is now the default view for the Publishers tab. New search filters enable you to quickly narrow down the list of publishers that are a good fit.

  • Pending makes it easy for you to review publishers and quickly approve them in bulk. We sort publishers by relevance to help you approve the best recommendations first.

  • Browse existing shows the status of publishers that you’ve already taken action on, as well as any non-joined publishers you can recruit.

Please let us know what you think by posting a comment here or in the Google Affiliate Network forum.

Easily share life on the go with the Google+ Mobile Website

Mobile sharing should be easy, and being away from your computer shouldn’t stop you from sharing the exciting moments in life. Our team has been working hard to ensure that sharing on Google+ works for you, no matter if you have a BlackBerry, Nokia, Windows phone, or any other Internet-enabled phone. Now you can post updates to the right audience, share photos, or explore interesting content on the Google+ mobile website by visiting plus.google.com from your mobile browser.

Photo sharing, on the go

Surprise celebrity sightings and epic sunsets happen while you’re out and about, and Google+ lets you upload photos straight from your mobile phone so you can share experiences in real time. With Google+, you don’t need to rely on wires or cords to share your photos -- you can quickly share life as it happens with friends and family.

No data? No problem

Access is important to us, so we wanted to make sure that you can stay up to date with Google+ via SMS if you don’t have a mobile data plan or Wi-Fi. It’s easy to enable SMS notifications the next time you’re online -- verify your phone number from the settings page (gear icon ) on the Google+ mobile website, and choose your notifications.

One simple, beautiful experience

And to make sharing a beautiful, easy experience, we’ve given the mobile website a top to bottom visual refresh that simplifies things by making the features you love more prominent. We’ve included a common action bar on all pages so it’s easy to post updates or toggle between circles so you only see content from the people you care about. If you like something, go ahead and +1 or reshare it directly from the stream. The end result is a mobile website that lets you share the moments that matter, from any device, anywhere.

AdWords scripts - now available to all AdWords users

In June we announced the limited release of AdWords scripts, a new AdWords tool that enables you to make changes to an AdWords account, such as updating keywords and ad copy or outputting account statistics, by writing simple JavaScript programs. Today we’re pleased to announce that AdWords scripts is available to all advertisers globally. In addition, we’re launching several frequently requested features that enable advertisers to:

  • Run more complex scripts - We extended the length of script executions from 5 minutes to 30 minutes, allowing you to make more complex changes. In addition, we’ve expanded the entity limit to 100K.

  • Use real-time data to manage campaigns - We’re adding support for Ad Parameters, which allow you to update numeric values in ads without having to delete and re-enter ad copy or wait for policy checks. Here’s a tutorial showing the use of US Geological Survey data to insert dynamic ad text.

  • Automate scripts with scheduling - You can now schedule scripts to run a single time, daily, weekly, or monthly.

To help you get started with AdWords scripts, we’re hosting two training events in the coming weeks.

  • On Tuesday, September 11th at 11:30am PST / 2:30am EST, we’ll be hosting a Hangout on Air through Google Developers Live, targeted to advertisers with more advanced coding skills. Questions asked via Moderator will be answered at the end of the presentation.

  • On Thursday, September 13th at 10amPST / 1pmEST, we’ll be hosting a Learn with Google webinar targeted to advertisers with basic JavaScript experience. During this webinar, we will provide an overview of what can be accomplished with Scripts, walk through ways to customize pre-set Scripts, and show you how to write Scripts from scratch. Click here to register.

Additional resources, including a getting started guide and tutorials, are available at https://developers.google.com/adwords/scripts/. You can also join the AdWords Scripts Forum to get help or share advice on AdWords scripts.

What's new in DoubleClick for Publishers

We’re always adding new features to DoubleClick for Publishers (DFP). The list below contains some highlights. For a complete list, please visit the DFP or DFP Small Business Help Centers.

Available in DFP and DFP Small Business:

Line Item Bulk Edit:  We’re constantly working on improving the trafficking process to enable you to create and change your campaigns more easily and effectively. You can now change the start and end date, the quantity, and the rate of several line items at once by using the bulk edit feature on the order overview page.

New AdMob SDK: The new Google AdMob SDK v6.1.0 for Android and v6.1.4 and v6.1.5 (non-UDID and UDID, respectively) for iOS are available for download. The new versions include the ability to specify multiple ad sizes in an AdView, introduce an app event listener for custom creatives that fire custom app events, and fix bugs reported from previous versions of the SDK.

Available in DFP:

Copy Creative Templates: If there is a creative template that you often use, you can now copy the template if you would like to re-use it for new creatives.

Available in DFP Mobile:

Allow non-matching images in aspect ratio creatives: Offers the ability to upload an image asset which doesn't match the aspect ratio you have selected in the line item.

Suggested ad units: You can now create mobile ad units by approving suggestions generated from actual traffic. When a not-yet existing ad unit generates impressions we will show it after some impressions as a suggested ad unit in the inventory screen of the network where users can approve them to become actual ad units. This saves you time by automatically creating ad units in advance, while still maintaining control over your overall inventory structure.

Multiple sizes for ad units in applications: You can now create ad units with multiple sizes in applications, allowing you to sell high-value custom sizes without compromising your ability to deliver standard banners or use ad networks.

Available in DFP Video:

Pausing / Archiving for Content & Sources: Content and Source will have new status: Archiving. Archiving a content source marks all of its content as archived. You can also mark video content as archived and this will persist until the user sets it back to the "video source setting"

DFP API Hangouts:
On September 18th at 11am PT join the DFP API Team and Ad-Juster in a hangout focused on how Ad-Juster integrates with the DFP API to make Publisher's lives easier. Ad-Juster, a company that helps ad operations teams automate the pulling of countless reports from multiple sources, will present a demonstration of their tool and also discuss how they integrate with the API.  Add questions before and during the live hangout and don't forget to add this event to your calendar. To ensure your computer is ready please follow the instructions prior to the event. Thanks, and see you there!
